I love my modem!

This is a compensated review from BlogHer and Sprint

I love being connected. I believe approximately 80% of my interaction with the world is virtual. My best friends live in my computer and although we don't see each other often we communicate on a daily basis, sometimes multiple times a day. I have an pda, a laptop, a netbook and a desktop. All of these devices are connected to the Internet.

I primarily stay connected by using WiFi. My husband and I have wifi in the house and this enables me to work from any room in the house while keeping an eye on my active toddler. The only problem is that sometimes I have difficulty with the wifi connection on my laptop. There have been times when I was so frustrated because the signal wasn't working properly and my husband was not around to investigate the problem. Please don't think we have the stereotypical gender roles going on in my household, we are both pretty tech savvy but the router is in my husband's office and I respect his space.

Luckily, for the past few months problems with the Wifi have not had a negative impact on my ability to work and connect with my friends. As part of the Momspotters team at BlogHer, I was given the opportunity to try out the Sprint 3G/4G network with my own modem. Life has not been the same. Not only has having my own modem enabled me to always be connected in the home, when I am traveling (which is fairly often), I am always connected! No longer do I have to worry about paying for WiFi at the airport, at the hotel or in random places when I am on the road. If I need an Internet connection I simply connect with my modem. This year I've traveled to California, Tennessee, and New York. I always have a connection! If I want to take my son to the playground and need to catch up on some work - I have a connection! Not only do I have a connection but it is fast. I really cannot tell the difference between my wifi connection and my modem. For now, I only have experience with the 3G network, 4G is not available in my area yet but I am sure that when it is available the connection will be even faster!

My personal modem is truly my favorite bit of technology. And it was so simple to use. It is basically plug and play. I uploaded the software, plugged the modem into my USB port and with one click - connected! I love it.

I have had a few quirks with my modem. I've found that when my computer goes to sleep it takes several attempts for me to get the program working. Sometimes I have to remove the modem from the USB port and reattach it. This really isn't that big of a deal and if I wasn't such a lazy person I am sure I could get some tech assistance from customer service to alleviate it. Clearly, it is not bothering me enough to take the extra step of placing a call or sending an email.

The folks at Sprint have graciously decided to share the love with one of my readers. One of you will be the winner of a $300.00 Visa gift card. All you have to do is answer this question:

I could keep my email from overwhelming me when I am away from home. It would be great not to have pack a laptop for vacations.

It would keep me connected because I would have everything at my fingertips. Numbers, recipes, internet, tv, etc. I run an online ecommerce business & this would really help me with my stores and keeping in touch with my customers!

I travel a lot because of my tech support job and this would definitely help me out A LOT because I wouldn't have to constantly be searching for a computer I can borrow just to check in on email, appointments, etc.

I would use Sprint's Now Network to check my e-mail and phone so I never miss an important message again! Having it all at my fingertips would allow me to travel more with my daughter without worrying about being out of the office.

We have 4 cars and 4 drivers in the family. The 4 of us are often going in different directions and need the Now Network to stay connected. How many people make it thru the day without changing their schedule? Life happens and we need to be able to communicate

it would be very helpful for me to be able to look up anything I wanted to anytime. Ok, maybe I am hjust too curious for my own good, but wouldn't it be great to find something new in the Indian/Mexican/Asian market and look it up to figure out what it is?

I live in a somewhat remote area and we travel a long ways to get anywhere!! So having this would help me in being able to use my computer while on the road (Hubby driving of course!) Also I travel a LOT so airports and hotels are places I see often and this would be great to have to end all the fees that wrack-up !

Janette said...

I'll be doing a lot of traveling in the next few months. It would be great to be able to use it in car on long trips and in the airport!

Erica C. said...

Sprint's speed would actually let me keep track of my spending because I'd be able to enter amounts at the very moment that I spend it...instead of trying to remember it later!

I am a WORKAHOLIC but being that I run my own business this isn't a terrible thing because hey, if I don't do it who will right? And when we go on a 10hr drive down to FL I desperately need access to the net and it drives me crazy not knowing what's going on with my business when I can't get access!

I think that the speed will make it that much easier to use the internet on the go. You can use it to comparison shop on the spot, find a restaurant, get directions, email, text, and as a phone and all at super fast reliable speeds!!

I currently use Virgin Mobile and am not very happy with them. I have a pay-as-you-go service with them, which I do like, but the available features and phones are sorely lacking. I think that if I switched to Sprint, I would be very happy indeed. Speed is very important to me at my home PC for internet and communications. Why should it not matter for my cellphone? hmmm lots to think about. Could really change my life in a lot of ways.

I am currently at college 1500 miles from home. The internet connection here is terrible, so the Sprint Now Network would let me finally be able to video chat with my family!

A lot of Sprint phones let you sync up calendars -- this would be GREAT for my husband and I to stay organized and connected.

Plus, it's way better than our current system of Post-It notes!

I could use the internet anywhere with my laptop and check my email more often!

I’m currently unemployed and job-hunting, so I am always hoping for an email that is setting up an interview or telling me I’ve got the job!

At home I have dial-up internet, which obviously takes a lot more time! I’d love to have high speed internet to use in my home. I’d have more time to do things like clean and garden!

It would be great when I am meeting a friend somewhere too. Instead of sitting there for the half hour that she's late, I could be doing something productive like reading emails or entering giveaways!
Thanks for the giveaway!

I am very much on the go. I never thought the life of a mom would be so busy, even when all three (kindergartners) are in school. I am go go go. But I need my lifeline, but I can't be strapped to my home because that is where my main source of internet is. While I'd like to not be as dependent on the internet, I have to face the facts - the internet is vital in my world as well as many others. ;) To be able to have access on my laptop when I am out, it'd be so helpful.

THANK YOU!! alisonad23 at gmail dot com
